Unveiling the Dodge Charger’s Fratzonic Exhaust – A…Speaker?

– The 2024 Dodge Charger introduces the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, a unique sound system designed to emulate traditional exhaust notes for the electric model.

– The company says this innovative feature blends the Dodge heritage name “Fratzog” with “sonic” to symbolize a modern twist on the classic muscle car aura.  The system comprises a speaker driver, a tuned box, and dual passive radiators to mimic the decibel levels of Dodge’s powerful Hellcat engines.

– Unlike simply replicating Hellcat sounds, the Fratzonic Exhaust produces distinct auditory experiences tailored to the Charger Daytona’s electric powertrain, with variations corresponding to different drive modes.  Drivers can enjoy a simulated “revving” experience at stops, enhancing the muscle car feel in an electric vehicle context.

– For those preferring a quieter ride, the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust can be completely disabled, allowing the natural silence of the electric Charger to prevail.

Musk Blasts Saboteurs After Attack on German Tesla Factory

– The Tesla Gigafactory located near Grünheide, Berlin, experienced a significant power outage leading to an evacuation yesterday on Tuesday. A far-left extremist group named “Volcano Group” has taken responsibility for disrupting the power supply to the Tesla facility.

– The sabotage involved setting a high-voltage pylon on fire between Steinfurt and Hartmannsdorf, as stated in a letter from the group. Elon Musk condemned actions of the group claiming responsibility for arson at Tesla’s German factory, questioning their environmental motives.

– The arson impacted power supply to approximately 2,000 households in various Berlin districts, as reported by Deutsche Welle (DW). Musk countered the group’s actions on Twitter, labeling them as counterproductive to environmental efforts by targeting an electric vehicle plant.  Brandenburg’s Interior Minister Michael Stübgen and state police have denounced the attack and initiated an investigation into the incident.

Tesla said on Twitter: “We stand with our employees, the people of Grünheide and the surrounding area, and all those affected by this arson attack on the public power grid targeting @Tesla. The safety of our more than 12,000 Tesla employees is our top priority, and we are glad that no one was injured in this attack. In addition to us, many other people in the region have been affected by the power outage.  The Tesla team is truly grateful for the outpouring of support from all parts of Germany and the world.  We will not let acts of terrorism deter us from our mission to accelerate the transition to renewable energy and sustainable transportation.”

Norway’s EV Market Share Soars with Tesla Model Y Leading

– In February, Norway’s plugin electric vehicle (EV) market share climbed to 92.1%, with battery electric vehicles (BEVs) accounting for over 90% of this figure.  This increase follows recent tax adjustments, marking the second month where BEVs surpassed 90% market share.

– Tesla Model Y represented nearly a quarter of all sales with 1,747 units. The breakdown of EV sales included 90.1% BEVs and 2.0% plugin hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), compared to the previous year’s 83.1% BEV and 7.0% PHEV shares in February. Changes in policy have shifted the dynamics within the vehicle market, leading to a surge in BEV purchases and a decline in non-BEV sales following a tax increase. he economic pressure on Norwegian consumers has heightened due to increased taxation on non-BEVs, amidst a noticeable lack of budget-friendly BEV options.

– A JATO report highlighted the deliberate strategy by European legacy automakers to maintain high BEV prices, contributing to the scarcity of affordable electric vehicle options in the European market.

EVs Make Significant Dent in Global Oil Demand and Emissions

– Electric vehicles (EVs) are making a significant impact in reducing oil consumption and transportation emissions globally, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA).

– The IEA, representing about 75% of global energy usage across 31 member countries, annually tracks worldwide energy consumption and emissions. In 2023, EVs accounted for one out of every five new cars sold worldwide, with total electric car sales reaching around 14 million, marking a 35% increase from 2022. The United States saw the sale of approximately 15.5 million cars in 2023, making the global shift towards electric vehicles comparable to nearly 90% of the American car market adopting EVs.

– China, leading the world in EV sales, experienced a substantial effect from this transition. Despite a 50% rise in highway mileage following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, gasoline consumption only increased by 10%. Despite a record increase in global harmful emissions last year, the situation would have been more severe without the significant growth in electric vehicle sales.

EU Considers Retroactive Tariffs on Chinese EV Imports

– The European Commission initiates customs registration for Chinese electric vehicle (EV) imports starting Thursday, paving the way for potential tariffs based on the outcome of an ongoing anti-subsidy investigation.

– This probe is focused on examining whether Chinese EVs benefit from unfair subsidies, threatening the competitiveness of EU producers. A conclusion to the investigation is expected by November, with the possibility of provisional duties being introduced as early as July.  Preliminary findings indicate evidence of Chinese EVs receiving subsidies, coupled with a 14% year-on-year increase in imports since the investigation commenced in October.

– The Commission expresses concern over the potential irreversible harm to EU producers if the current influx of Chinese EVs continues unabated until the investigation’s end.
