VW Halts EV Assembly in Emden Over Supply Chain Issues

– VW has temporarily stopped EV production in Emden and on line 2 in Zwickau due to a shortage of drive systems, impacting the manufacturing of models such as the ID.4, ID.5, Audi Q4 e-tron, and Q4 Sportback e-tron.

– A disruption in the supply chain, particularly in the production of the APP550 drive unit at VW’s Kassel plant, is cited as the reason for the shortage.

– The bottleneck has led to a pause in Zwickau’s line 2 until December 1, affecting over 1,000 employees out of approximately 8,000.

– Emden’s production halt is expected to last five days, including a weekend, in an effort to prioritize the supply for the new VW ID.7’s production ramp-up.

– Production on Zwickau’s line 1, responsible for the VW ID.3 and Cupra Born, remains unaffected by these supply chain disruptions.

VW EVs to Gain Tesla Supercharger Access by 2025

– Volkswagen Group will introduce a J3400 to CCS1 adapter for its electric vehicles by 2025 at the latest, enabling charging at Tesla Superchargers.

– The announcement, made late in 2023, positions VW among other automakers like Ford and Rivian, which have already enabled Supercharger access for their vehicles.

– The delay in VW’s rollout compared to competitors is attributed to ensuring the adapter’s compatibility with both AC and DC charging systems, requiring extensive development and testing.

– Ford, by contrast, opted for a simpler solution by releasing an adapter solely for DC fast charging.

– From 2026 onwards, all new or redesigned Volkswagen Group EV models will come equipped with J3400  ports as standard, eliminating the need for an external adapter.

– The Porsche Taycan is expected to be the first VW Group vehicle to feature the integrated J3400 port following its next update in 2026.

– The purchased model, a 2024 Cybertruck Foundation Series, is being offered on the Porsche South Orlando website.

– The Cybertruck’s original sticker price for the dual-motor version begins at $102,235, including shipping costs. A higher-spec model, the tri-motor Cyberbeast, costs an additional $20,000.

– Cybertruck reservation holders have shared the pricing details of their orders in online forums, highlighting the significant markup from the dealership.

– Online car sales platform CarGurus listed six dual-motor Foundation Series pickups for sale, including the one at Porsche South Orlando, with another notable listing priced at $259,900 by Driving Emotions, a specialty used-car dealer in Lake Park, Florida.

Legal Team Seeks $6 Billion in Tesla Stock After Contesting Musk’s Pay

– Lawyers who successfully challenged Elon Musk’s $56 billion compensation package at Tesla are now seeking $6 billion in legal fees, payable in Tesla stock.

– This request was made in a filing with the Delaware Court of Chancery and is noted for its unprecedented size in legal history.

– The legal team justified their fee by arguing it represents an hourly rate of $288,888.

– They claim that since their action saved Tesla billions by blocking Musk’s salary, the payment of their fees won’t impact Tesla’s balance sheet.

– Elon Musk has criticized the fee demand on social media, labeling the lawyers as criminal and accusing them of damaging Tesla for personal gain.
