I hope this post finds you all well. It’s been a non-stop ride since my last getaway in February, and the time has come for a brief but well-deserved holiday.

The wet summer in England has left us all craving a little sunshine. Using the school holidays as an opportunity, I’m taking my family away for a week of guaranteed sunshine, laughter, and relaxation.

Whilst I have your attention, I’m thrilled to fill you in on something exciting brewing in the background. Many of you reached out and asked about the whereabouts of the Friday podcast that I usually do with Dom, Tom, and Kyle.

The reason behind our brief disappearance? We wanted to launch a brand-new project under our own control, and it’s now live!

Allow me to introduce you to the “Batteries Included Podcast.”

Throughout August the other guys will be doing warmup shows, creating a buzz, and setting the stage for something special. But the real excitement comes in September. That’s when I’ll be able to join the rest of the gang for a full-fledged launch. It’s a thrilling new adventure, and we believe you’re going to love what we have in store.

You can find out more at www.batteriesincludedpodcast.com

We are deeply grateful for your interest and support, and we can’t wait for you to join us on this new journey.

Sadly that meant that we had to leave InsideEVs, a brilliant group of people and hopefully I will continue my association with their parent company, as I also host the Formula 1 podcasts for their UK business Autosport.

Back when I jumped out of a 25 year radio broadcasting career, my plan was always to rely solely on EV News Daily for income but then the opportunity came up for me to join Autosport and, as an F1 fan, it was a dream come true.

However too many 18-hour days making both EV News Daily AND Formula 1 content led to some major burn out. So back in February I let them know I’d be stepping back from that role. Not because I was unhappy, but purely for my mental and physical health. I offered to stay until they found a replacement for part of my role, which looks like it is now sorted.   In fact is has been months past when I could have left but this wasn’t about working to a strict notice period. It’s the least I could do because of the support I had losing Dad in March and April – a fantastic media company and particularly my line manager who is truly a one of the most compassionate people i’ve ever met.

Come September I will once again be 100% podcasting to pay the bills. YIKES! Scary, but good scary.

Anyway, back on topic to my week away. While I’m hunting for shade and trying to keep my pasty ginger skin out of the sun, should I spot an interesting piece of EV news, I might just drop a couple of bonus podcasts into the EV News Daily feed. Your connection to the world of electric vehicles doesn’t have to take a break, even if I do.

I did bring a spare USB mic just in case! I’ve lost count how many times my wife has rolled her eyes at me over the years for taking my podcasting kit on holiday with me.

However, I also want you to know that if I don’t get the chance to record, the regular podcasts will resume this coming Sunday.

A week with family will undoubtedly recharge my batteries, and I’ll be back, energised and eager to share the latest in EV News Daily with all of you.

Your support means everything to me, and I’m truly grateful for this incredible community we’ve built together. Enjoy your week and I’ll see you all very soon.

Best wishes,
Martyn
