2023 CHEVY BOLT EV CONFIGURATOR LIVE

The 2023 Chevy Bolt EV began rolling off the production line at the GM Lake Orion plant in Michigan on July 21st. To coincide with this recent launch, GM has now gone live with the online configurator tool for the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV, which allows prospective buyers to equip the vehicle with different features and options and view a complete pricing summary of their preferred specification.

GM will also drop the Cherry Red Tintcoat exterior color from the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV order books, as we reported previously, which will be replaced by the new Radiant Red Metallic hue. Finally, the price of the vehicle has been lowered by $5,900.

A 65 kWh lithium-ion battery provides 259 miles of range on a single charge. The closely-related Chevy Bolt EUV uses the same technology, but range sits slightly lower at 247 miles due to the crossover’s higher weight.

Chevy marketing boss Steve Majoros has also predicted that Bolt sales will reach a record high this year, topping the previous high of 23,297 units sold back in 2017.

ALL-NEW ELECTRIC JEEP CAUGHT UNDISGUISED IN EUROPE

There’s a lot we don’t know about Stellantis’ upcoming, all-electric Jeep that’s set to debut in 2023. We don’t know the specs, for example. We don’t know the price – heck, we don’t even know what they’re going to call it! But now, at least, we know exactly what it’s going to look like!

it’s not scheduled to be officially revealed until October. Despite that, a keen-eyed photographer was able to snap a few “paparazzi-style” photos during an advertising shoot in Portugal.

2025 marks the 80th anniversary of Jeep, and the brand is expected to kick off the celebrations in style – especially after the brand’s CEO, Christian Meunier, announced that there would be, “a fully emissions-free Jeep in every segment by 2025.”

NEW PICTURES OF BABY JEEP EV LEAKED AHEAD OF DEBUT IN OCTOBER 2022

The front end shows a closed-off upper grille for better aerodynamic efficiency, while the lower two grilles are visible. We can also see a shallower windscreen than the retro-styled Renegade, while the headlight design and front bumper also look unchanged from the original images. The junior Jeep’s flanks sport typically chunky wheel arches with plastic cladding, the window line is broken up by a shark fin-style rear pillar, plus there’s a contrasting black roof. The rear light clusters and lighting signature are also unchanged from the original images of the concept, and there’s no single exhaust tip protruding from the bumper, showing this is the pure-electric model.

It’s likely it’ll use the Stellantis e-CMP platform – as used in similarly sized cars such as the Peugeot e-208, and e-2008, as well as Vauxhall’s Corsa e, plus Mokka e models.

FISKER AFFIRMS 17 NOV AS START OF PRODUCTION FOR OCEAN

Fisker affirmed the expected timing plan for Fisker Ocean start of production (SOP) on 17 November 2022. 5,000 pre-orders are fully sold out for the launch edition Fisker Ocean One, secured by $5,000 down payments.

Fisker Ocean reservations totaled over 56,000 as of 1 August 2022 (net of cancellations), including  the 5,000 Fisker Ocean One pre-orders. This compares to 45,000 as of the Q1 2022 earnings call and 31,000 as of the Q4 2021 earnings call.

Magna has built 55 complete Fisker Ocean prototypes in its production facility and Magna continues to build additional prototype vehicles. Ongoing testing includes crash, safety, powertrain, high and low-speed features, and more. Several prototypes made their way to Magna Electronics in Michigan for ADAS testing. Fisker and Magna’s joint test program aims to deliver high-quality vehicles right from the start of production (SOP).

VINFAST HIRING 8,000 ADDITIONAL EMPLOYEES TO BOOST PRODUCTION

Vietnam’s VinFast is looking to hire 8,000 more employees for its electric-vehicle plant in Vietnam as it ramps up production to deliver its first battery-powered SUVs to the United States by the end of this year, the company said.

The Haiphong plant has capacity to produce 250,000 cars per year and VinFast has said it expects to upgrade that capacity to 600,000 by 2026.In March, VinFast announced it would build a plant in North Carolina with an initial projected capacity of 150,000 EVs a year. The company has said that plant would create 7,500 jobs.

ELECTRIC VEHICLE SALES REVIEW Q2 2022

Global BEV sales in the first half of 2022 rose by 81% compared to the equivalent period last year. This is impressive in its own right, but even more so when one considers that overall global sales of all powertrains actually fell by 12% in the same period.

Much of the increase can be attributed to China, where BEV sales more than doubled in H1 2022 relative to H1 2021 to more than two million.

In the first half of 2022, overall PHEV sales decreased by 14% in the ten European markets analyzed relative to the same period last year. Given the EU’s recent commitment to measure PHEV CO2 emissions based on what the vehicles actually emit, potentially replacing previous figures often accused of being unrealistically low, the priorities of European OEMs are only likely to be reinforced.

BEVS ARE 22% CHEAPER TO SERVICE THAN FOSSIL FUEL CARS

The average transaction value for servicing fully electric cars is currently around 22% less than an equivalent fossil fuel car, according to Fleet Assist, which has released servicing and maintenance trends based on its 2022 data.

The findings are based on the 850,000 fleet vehicles using the company’s 5,200-strong franchised and independent garage network.

Much of the lower cost can be put down to reduced labour times, which are currently 33% shorter for BEVs than ICE cars. For example, the parts component of an BEV job is typically 28% cheaper than an ICE car due to them having fewer working parts, with brake wear far lower.

the most common BEV parts being replaced are pollen filters, bulbs, key fob batteries, wipers, and brake fluid.

Garages are already starting to come to terms with how EVs will impact their servicing revenues and workshop traffic in the longer term.

LAKE MICHIGAN SHORELINE TO BECOME ‘ELECTRIC ROUTE 66′ WITH EV CHARGING STATIONS

Scenic road trips just got supercharged as the Midwest works together to create an electric route along the Lake Michigan shoreline. The Lake Michigan EV Circuit Tour will be a network of electric vehicle chargers spanning over 1,100 miles of drivable shoreline around Lake Michigan.

The circuit was announced after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, and Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers agreed to build and maintain charging stations along the lake in their home states.

The circuit is being dubbed an “electric route-66,″ encouraging EV drivers to take part in eco-tourism.The key to this partnership will be reliable chargers along Lake Michigan’s coastline. The chargers will be installed in key coastal communities at lighthouses, state parks, breweries, vineyards, restaurants, and other small businesses.
